MANALI  

Manali is the Hill station situated at the height of (2050m)6398 feet at northern end of the kullu valley in Himachal Pradesh.It is popular tourist spot for Indians and foreigners throughout year with cooler whether to run to in summer and magical snow covered in winter.


TREKKING:

Manali is a popular Himalayan tourist destination and accounts for nearly a quarter of all tourist arrivals in Himachal Pradesh. It is visited by many trekkers who follow the hashish trail.Backpacking (in US; tramping, trekking, or bushwalking in other countries) combines hiking and camping in a single trip.A backpacker packs all of his or her gear into a backpack. This gear must include food, water, and shelter, or the means to obtain them, often in a more compact and simpler form than one would use for stationary camping. A backpacking trip must include at least one overnight stay in the wilderness.

CHARAS:

Manali’s charas is considered to be the best in India and also offers hot springs, spectacular religious shrines and temples, Tibetan Buddhist temples, and trekking in the surrounding mountains. Naggar Fort south of Manali is a reminder of the 1500 year old Pal Dynasty. Made from rocks, stones, and elaborate wood carvings, it is an ensemble of the rich and elegant artworks of Himachal.

Charas is the name of hand-made hashish in India, Nepal and Pakistan which made from the extract of the cannabis plant (Cannabis sativa). The plant grows wild throughout Northern India, Pakistan and the Himalayas (its putative origin) and is an important cash crop for the local people.

 

HIMALAYAS :

Himalayas mountain range in Asia separating Indian subcontinent from Tibetan plateau which is name of massive mountain system including Karakoram,the Hindu Kush and Host of minor ranges extending from the Pamir Knot.The Himalayas separate the Indo-Gangetic plain from the Tibetan plateau. The bulk of the mountain range lies in Nepal, Bhutan and the states of Jammu and Kashmir(parts which are disputed between Pakistan and India), Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Sikkim and Arunachal Pradesh in India. The outlying parts of the range lie in Tibet, Pakistan(some in disputed territories) and Burma.

                                                            

 

                                     

KULLU MANALI:

The largest valley in the district is called as Kullu Valley, which is also known as the Valley of the Gods. There is also a town called Kullu which sits on the banks of the Beas River in the central part of the valley. Another important valley in the district is the Lug valley where the main forest contractors have been extracting timber from the forests for the last 150 years and continue to do so today, Farther north lies the town of Manali.

Hidimba Devi Temple:

It is an ancient cave temple Dedicated to Hidimba Devi,who was one of the great charector in Mahabharta.The temple is surrounded by cedar forest at the foot of Himalayas.These was build over the Huge Rock jutting out of the ground which was worshiped as image of Diety.

                                                                                                          Pandvas stayed in the Himachal Pradesh during exile.Powerful rakshas Hidimb attaked them in manaliand in the ensuing fight,Bheem the strongest Pandav,killed him.Beem and Hidimbs sister Hidimba then got married had a son Ghatotkach.
