Mussoorie is a city about 34 km from Dehradun and in the Indian state of Uttarakhand. This hill station, situated in the foothills of the Himalaya ranges, is also known as the Queen of the Hills. It is referred to as the ‘queen of hills’ because of its exotic beauty that keeps one dumbstruck. The adjoining town of Landour, which includes a military cantonment, is considered part of ‘greater Mussoorie’.

Mussoorie is a hill station which has pleasant climate around the year. It is a very cool place with greenery at its full bloom during September to November. When the plains of North India experience heat waves, Mussoorie provides a welcome break. September – November is spring time so, Himalayas are clearly visible. It is better to avoid monsoons as the roads to Mussoorie are in bad shape. The best time of visit to Mussoorie is either between mid April to mid May or September to November. Same thing applies for the winter when roads are blocked due to snowfall.

Mussoorie tourism is one of the most happening ones these days. Mussoorie is located at the Himalayan foothills. This idyllic hill station with its spell bounding sight of the Himalayan range is awe-insipring. This hill station has always been everybody’s favorite who plans for a getaway from the blazing heat of the plains.
Kempty Falls:

   The Kempty Falls are a major attractions of Dehradun and Mussoorie. The falls are situated mid way between the Dehradun-Mussoorie path. Set on the hilly terrains, the Kempty falls are stunningly beautiful. The water cascading down from an altitude of 4,500 feet and splitting further into five cascades, the water falls from a height of 40 feet giving the appearance of water jumping and playing on the rocks before falling down,the breathtaking view make a spellbound effect on its visitors. People enjoy a refreshing bath at the base. This place was developed as a tourist destination by John Mekinan, after 1835. Mussoorie

The name Kempty is derived from ‘Camp-tea’, as the Britishers would organise their tea parties here.Past Kempty Fall, 12-km downhill, on crossing the Aglar River, one reaches the legendary Yamuna River. Trout are in abundance here, and fishing permits can be obtained form the Divisional Forest Officer, Mussoorie.
Kempty falls are closed for visitors during monsoon and winters. It is open from March to July.

The most famous attraction in Mussoorie, Gun Hill is the second highest peak of Mussoorie. The point also offers a picturesque view of Mussoorie town and Doon Valley. You can enjoy a 400 m thrilling ropeway ride to land at this exceptionally beautiful misty peak. Municipal Garden: A beautiful garden with an artificial mini lake offering enjoyable boating facilities. A picnic spot with a beautiful garden and an artificial mini lakehaving boating facilities at a distance of 4kms by cycle rickshaw, pony or by car and only 2 kms on foot via Waverly Convent Road. A clean place and relatively less crowded, there are few shops around for you to eat and shop a bit. Peddled boats are also available here for you to take a round in water. It is usually a stopover for people coming to Mussoorie from Dehradun.
