Google is offering an early holiday gift for travelers by providing free terminal-wide Wi-Fi Nov. 10 through Jan. 15, 2010, in 40 airports across the country, including Orlando International Airport.In Florida, the free Wi-Fi will also be offered at the Miami and Fort Lauderdale airports, according to a Google release. The services will also be offered on Virgin America flights.
The upcoming Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Yearâ€™s holidays are some of the heaviest travel seasons of the year. According to Federal Aviation Administration estimates, more than 100 million people will pass through these airports between now and January 15, 2010.As part of the Google holiday initiative, when travelers log on to participating networks, they can make a donation to one of three charity organizations.
Google will match the donations made across all the networks up to $250,000, and the airport network that generates the highest amount per passenger by Jan. 1 will receive $15,000 to donate to the local charity of their choice.
