UTV Motion Pictures has come up with a unique idea to cash in on the ongoing tussle between producers/distributors and multiplex owners. Since no new films are releasing, on May 1, UTV will release six of their films, which fared well at the box-office.

Siddharth Roy Kapoor, CEO, UTV Motion Pictures, said, “It is the holiday season and there is no new film release due to the ongoing dispute between producers/distributors and multiplex owners. The idea is to bring some of our films back to the theaters. We will re-release films that the audience liked and give them an opportunity to watch those films on the big screen again. These films are Jodhaa Akbar, A Wednesday, Race, Oye Lucky Lucky Oye, Rang De Basanti and Fashion.”

“We will be releasing these films at single-screen cinemas across India with limited prints and will increase the shows and prints depending on the response. All the films will release on May 1 as it is a long weekend,” added Kapoor.
