Naini Lake is located at Nainital in Uttarakhand and it contains a natural freshwater body. The lake is lunar-shaped and contains an outlet towards the southeastern side. This lake is one among the 4 lakes such as Bhimtal Lake, Naukuchiyatal Lake and Sattal Lake in Kumaon hills. The Naini Lake is surrounded by 3 mountain peaks such as Naina peak, Tiffin Top and the Snow view peaks and the water reaches the lake by Balia Nala.

The Naini lake is known as the main tourist spot located in Nainital and the tourists who visit the lake can enjoy yachting and boating. The lake was previously known as Tri-Rishi-Sarovar which means lake of three sages namely Pulastya, v and Atri. It is also known that after worshipping the 3 sages resulted in filling up of the dug hole with water from the Mansarovar Lake which makes the people to dip in Naini Lake.

This lake is estimated to be found in the year 1839 and according to Englishman Calcutta, news magazine also confirmed the lakes discovery. The lake is considered to be one of the most popular recreational spot and there are some of the best hotels can be found in the surrounding areas of the lake. Even though there is many myths present about the lake it the people of Nainital live around the Naini Lake.
