Senior BJP leader Arun Jaitley, who was BJP’s chief campaign strategist in the Lok Sabha elections, has resigned from the post of party General Secretary. “In his resignation letter, Jaitley said he was resigning from the post of general secretary under the one-man, one-post rule of the party after his appointment as leader of opposition in the Rajya Sabha,” party president Rajnath Singh said, adding that he has accepted it on Tuesday. Sources close to Jaitley confirmed that he had sent in a ‘one line resignation letter’ to Rajnath Singh which said, following party’s “one-man, one-post” rule, he’s resigning from the post of general secretary after being chosen as the leader of opposition in Rajya Sabha. Jaitley received a lot of flak from senior BJP leaders like Jaswant Singh and Yashwant Sinha after party’s shocking performance in the just concluded Lok Sabha polls and his resignation as a party office bearer is likely to aggravate the crisis in the party.
