Endpoint Protection is a suite of security products developed by Symantec, makers of the popular Norton Anti-Virus. The Endpoint suite of products goes far beyond standard anti-viral scans. The encryption that is offered by these products keeps your entire network secure, as well as providing a gateway for secure, encrypted messenger chats over the Internet. The products also provide you with complete backup and recovery tools for your network. Installing Endpoint Protection on your network is a breeze as long as you follow a few basic steps.
1. Go to the Endpoint section of the Symantec website.
2. Download the installation file for Endpoint Protection by clicking on the link beneath “Trialware” in the upper right corner. When the new window opens, scroll to the bottom of the page and click the “Download Now” button. Click “I Agree” on the “Terms and Conditions” page, and then sign in to begin the download. If you do not have an account at Symantec, enter your email address and desired password to create an account so that the download will begin.
3. Save the installation file to the server. When the download begins, you will be asked if you want to save the file or run it. Save the file to a location on the network server that needs to be protected. Make note of the location the file has been saved to.
4. Run the installation file. Log into any network computer as the administrator. Click “Start” and then “My Network Places.” Surf to the location on the network server where the installation file was downloaded. Double-click the file to install Endpoint Protection. Endpoint will now be protecting all computers that pass through this server for access to the Internet.
